Annie’s Creamy Deluxe ...

I couldn’t resist buying Annie’s gluten free “extra cheesy” mac & cheese.  Annie’s traditional mac & cheese had replaced the well-known brand in my house ever since it was introduced when my kids were small.  I feel confident that the product is a healthier choice.

I prepared the mac & cheese as directed and what resulted was a gloppy, salty and ugly yellow bowl of macaroni without the taste of cheese. The pasta is a mixture of white and brown rice flour, which is not my preferred blend, but does have a nice texture. Then you are instructed to add the cheese sauce, which comes in a separate packet and was impossible to open without a scissor.  The glue like substance stuck to the scissor should have been my clue that this sauce would not be the answer to my mac & cheese dreams.

The mac & cheese looked and tasted like cheese wiz mixed into macaroni.  Maybe I can use it as glue for my kid’s next art project. Annie, go back to the kitchen.
